Haven't done any surfing at Tuks for about 6 months. Its faster AND cheaper to do that at home on my 384k line.
Costs R1/mb during the day and on bad days its <1KB/s.
No idea wtf they are doing there but its not working.

Speeds are usually very good at any time of the day yes, and at a fair price. I love this time of the morning. R10/GB, Nice
As an interim solution, access speeds to Non-Academic websites was throttled a bit last year August (as far as I can remember) right after the Akamai server messed up our local bandwidth.
I don't think any other University comes close to the 'value' we're getting.

Or maybe it's just cheaper and more convenient to work through TENET... and,
At Stellenbosch for instance they need quite allot of international Guaranteed bandwidth for the classes that get broadcast(ed?) to students all over the world. They cannot rely on Telkom, or on of their puny 4/8Mbps Uncapped ADSL lines to do that.
