Kinda stopped bothering to track it - reckon around 10gig, depends on the month.

As the next LOST is starting in the US soon, heh, I'll be using an extra few gig over my normal tally.

Busy downloading a 3.6 gig slackware 11 DVD iso now, hmm, so maybe I do closer to 15gig? - no idea?

My supposed cap is 20gb, but it's not enforced unless you really go balls to the wall and month by month snag 50gb or more.

To be honest, I don't have the time to actually USE that much data in a month :D

Wow, and this coming from a Briton who downloads DVD's and TV series. Yet his 20gig cap is more than enough... This would just be why I ont quite agree with those guys who want 30gig+ (up to 100gig) caps. 30gigs would be nic, even though not quite neccesary.

I also think 30 would be nice. Uncapped would be better but 30 would be nice. :)

Lol. Its hilarious how Telkom have made us feel like naughty school children BEGGING permission to please download sir. Who the hell are they to decide what and how much bandwidth i can use? They are a private company making money hand over fist year after year. Its been proven time and again that their pricing is way too high, their caps waay to low and their service waay to poor! If they had the least bit of TRUE competition (With seperate access to an international link), they wouldn't last an instant... Can you imagine if your cellphone company cut you off because you made too many phone calls? Its easier for them to make large amounts of money from a relatively small group of people (us) than to make smaller amounts of money from a larger group of people as they would if they reduced their pricing significantly. They would still make as much money.....they would just have to work harder for it! Heh, i sometimes wonder how different the telecommunications industry would be if it wasnt headed by a completely lazy MORON who knows less about telecommunications than a 12 year old. Imagine having a TECHNICAL person heading a TECHNICAL sector of the government. What an intriguing thought!

You mean like we used to have not long ago?

lol, haha never even thought of that really, why didnt telkom just leave things alone back then. We didnt have all that much to moan about with uncapped local and 30gigs for R299 and the line rental coming down in the future.

Wow, pretty weird but most of what we ask for now we had back then..

It's the 5th of October and I've already used 9 Gigs. :) Seems I can download about a just under 2 gigs a day if I play my cards right! Saturdays I seem to get much more, about 2.5 gigs (but that was last month)

When this thread first started, I kinda thought of bandwidth in terms of a 'limited supply quantity.' In other words I related it to going to a restaurant and paying a set price for set items. I figured if I go to Macdonalds I purchase the number of burgers I require to satisfy my hunger. Because of this line of thinking I did not understand the mentality of some forumites who try to download cr@p just to consume their bandwidth for the sake of seeing how much they can download without being capped.

HOWEVER last night I was watching television and the thought crossed my mind, "What if the idiots at DSTV charged me per minute I watched?" For sure I would only watch the programs I truly liked and would quickly turn off the TV when I was done. I definitely wouldn't leave it on while making supper - not if I was paying per minute.

So my thoughts are now that - Telkom are doing precisely that. Instead of charging a monthly fee they are billing me "per minute of viewing pleasure."

And that really sucks. Hope you understand what I am trying say.

I use 3 gb of bandwidth, if not a little more surfing the net and playing games in my free time like Warcraft III. My brother plays WoW a lot. I avoid downloading anything but the necessary programs and updates.

I curse Telkom every time I want to see a movie of Neverwinter Nights or play the Company of Heroes demo. Everything is legal, but not accessable. Maybe when I'm finished studying I can make a crapload of money it takes to just experience the internet in its modern form.

Maybe it's cool listening to radio on your PC or not hold your breath when you see there are streaming videos on the Dark Messiah site, but for the moment, who knows?
