Kompete: cap limit isn't the issue here, the wholesale pricing structure is. MyADSL and many others in the IT industry have stood in front of ICASA and presented our arguments. They have proved that they are absolutely useless. The ONLY way to sort this out is via an open market - let competition take it's course. It's unfair to assume that everybody with a high cap requirement is downloading illegal stuff via p2p.
Try this: spend a few hours browsing through videos on youtube, listening to streaming radio stations, going through sites like hi5 and myspace, get a copy of Vista Beta or RC1, add in a few linux distro's and buy some downloadable software online. Let me know how much data that consumes![]()
hmmm...finally some food for thought. I know i was unfair to make broad generalisations, but it was mainly to tick off the dunces...u know who u r
Try joining an online band - sending instrumental tracks to each other for collaboration chows bandwidth like crazy... much more than the average pornsite browser uses...So if you are an ordinary home user (not running a business from home) what are you downloading to reach 170 gigs a month.
As long as some fatcats can fill their pockets, the rip-off will continueWhat we use our data for is neither yours nor ICASA's business. We pay for it, we use it as we see fit. The point is the price of this data and bandwidth is way beyond what we should be paying.

Down with ICASA, down with the cap, down with telkom, down with prices...and so on
Home user downloading 70Gb of MP3s a month approx. Not talking ***!![]()
I think he's kidding, he has a tendency of being sarcastic. Even caught me out once during one of the religious debatesNow this sounds liek ****, do you know how much music 70GBof mp3 is? Its more than you can listen to in a month if you listened 24/7, infacts its much more than you could listen to in two months, so what is the point?
...the same people that want to use that bandwidth to download 70Gig of...well lets just say you're not going to use it to complete your doctorate...![]()

Me? So you really think 70gigs of Mp3 per month is what we need higher caps for?
My only point is that you guys try and stand behind legal uses and this and that (business barred) but about 90% of the high cap users will be using their caps almost exclusively on illegal content, and probably much more of it than they will ever need or watch/listen to. This you cant deny, you might say, okay well so what my cap etc etc. But that isnt gong to get you anywhere in getting us high usage for those who need it.
EDIT: Ag fine I'll leave it.
and my MP3 collection is just over 30gb, not too bad but I only listen to metal, otherwise it would be around 60GB.

The question as to what you mega downloaders are downloading has been asked multiply times in this thread, but only one reply!
So if you are an ordinary home user (not running a business from home) what are you downloading to reach 170 gigs a month.
I think you are all talking *** when you say you use that much (I am speaking to home users only).
As said above, nothing illegal about downloading MP3s. In any event I am uncapped, and pay for that privilege. I was giving an honest answer to a question about what I download - rather than the usual bull about Linux ISOs. Those who want higher usage can pay for it, as I do.
