Okay so I know im wrong and bla bla bla..

But what are you using all of that bandwidth on? Im asuming its almost all downloading with about 5-10gigs for surfing and email etc, unless you happen to do something "special" with alot of your bandwidth. Id say this almost without a doubt because you are a home user and use 33gigs on local, so what can that be, all of those live local TV streams? I'm guessing its just local torrents or DC++ downloading.

Now theres nothing wrong with that, and I'd do it too if I had the bandwidth. But how its not enough I dont know, how much harddrive space do you have? If you keep that up for a 3-4 months (assuming its mostly downloading) you would have to buy a new 250GB hardrive costing probably as much as your internet.
And if all you are doing is download tons and tons of music and video which you will hardly even listen to or watch all of, it just doesnt seem like much of a crisis, for some people maby it is, and of course for business. But most home use that exceeds 30-50GB is just downloading of series's and movies. Its nothing crucial to the country or even to those people's lives.

Sorry, just ranting about the people who are on here complaining like hell and all they want bandwidth for is to download the latest Anime or Smallville/Lost season or something.

 I am sure telskom would like to use some of these arguments in its justification for its high prices and low caps. :p

I am currently forced to only use 3Gb - but I am struggling with that, I recon I would be comfortiable with 5 - more if I was to actually use pandora instead of listening in when I have a few extra mbs...

i use my 30gigs local on my openweb account every month, and on the last day manage to do +-another 10gigs.......so 40 gigs every month.

next month hoping to get a 30gig local only account as well as my current account so i can start downloading from day 1 rather than waiting, and dont have to worry about being able to only use local sites etc......

So far Telkom seems to be lying when they say people don't need more than 3Gigs... ATM only around 7% of forumites use less than 3Gig.

I don't want to vote because I don't want to add to Telkom's view that 3GB is enough.

Bill Gates also said that 640kb should be enough RAM for anyone... and he supposedly knew what he was talking about!

Anyway, 5-6Gb on 56k dial-up and as much as possible if I could afford the hyper expensive ADSL...

how do you use so much? uncapped?

The first month or two was high because, well if you starve a person for many years (thanks to Telkom) and then put a big plate of food (a 1Meg line) in front of them they gonna eat as much as they can ;)

Otherwise they 30 GIG IS accounts + some SAIX.

What do people use their local bandwidth for? I'm guessing DC++ sites or perhaps usenet

I wonder if there is any link between the connection speed and downloads?

Im pretty sure if I had a faster connection I'd blow my cap quicker.

Not to be a fart in the wind :p , but how does one consume +30G a month?, i.e. It would be interesting to see what the % breakdown of consumption is:
- (video/voice/data/other)
- what about (legal/illegal/grey)
- and (work/educational/entertainment/other)

Streaming video can kill it very quickly, BF2, ouchies there. Downloading Vista, theres a few gigs, linux distros.

Plus if some of us had more bandwidth and static IPs who would have their own website?
