After opening the Eskom bill today,I notice without even using 1 KW of power .... we pay R1000.00 just for network and services charges. So even if I don't use a drop of electricity, I am already R1000.00 out of pocket.

but anyways how much do u guys pay per kw? ATM we are at R0.079

We pay R0.15 per KWh for power - the rest goes into those Escom fat cats' bonusses!

8c?

I'm pretty sure you pay for power in kWh, not kW.

I'm also pretty sure that if you're only paying 8c per unit you have nothing to complain about

R3/kWh in peak times.
80c/kWh inbetween peak times
60c/kWh during no peak overnight.

<50kWh @ R0.573/kWh
>50kWh <350kWh @ R0.7159/kWh
>350kWh <600kWh @ R1.0792/kWh
>600kWh @ R1.1871/kWh
Plus Retail Environmental levy charge @ R0.035/kWh

All Excl. VAT.

Sorry, I was wrong it was KWh @ R0.80 or R0.7987

I must add that this is in Cape Town and we get our supply direct from Eskom.

hmm, if i calculate my last transaction on ibuy.co.za it works out to R1.53 per unit (bought R2500 and got 1628.70 units).
