How much do you pay for rent?

For my flat in potch, R3850. But it includes w&p, all of the furniture, DSTV, gym, internet and its right across the university. It takes me less then 5min to walk to my furthest class. But the flat is small 30 sqm. Still a steal at the price.

Why pay more than 5k for a flat that you are renting? I don't get it... Unless you live in jhb.

in Cape Town CBD you will struggle to get a single bed flat for under 5k.

I may consider renting my flat out next year, and the going rate in my building for a similiar size unit is R8000 (50m2).

Ja nee, I think you are a bit out of touch with rental prices (unless you live in Koeroeman)

First property purchased in 2000. R2k bond on 3 bed house in Pinetown, Durban. Rented out at R5k currently.

Second property purchased in 2006. R4k bond on 3 bed duplex in Sherwood, Durban. Rentals are north of R6k currently, so when I am able to I will buy a new place and rent this one out as well.

Nope, many cheap alternatives. Living in the CBD is not a must... Living in Bellville and traveling by train can cost up to 4k including that traveling expense.. I currently pay 3800 for my 2 bedroom apartment in Paarl and if I were to work in Cape Town, which is 90 km away, a monthly would cost me R400...still less than R5500...

LoL. Bought as soon as I started earning a paycheck dude.

Thought this would be worth revisting a couple years later.

Me ~ R8k for Levies, Bond, Water + Lights.

Jeezuz I was reading some posts and thinking wtf where do these people live to pay these awesome rentals... Till I saw 2014

Rentals have gone crazzzzy circa 2018

Now paying 14k for 120sqm 2 bedroom.

Sizing down to an amazing 12k slightly smaller (probably 10sqm less) but much better 2 bedroom.
