How much do you pay for your car per month?

60% deposit and you still pay R2000? Ouch :/ Is that the normal price of cars?

0 for both crappy but 100% working cars, R400 on f3rd party fire and theft insurance, and then I get raped every time I put petrol/diesel in them by governmint.
With you there... it's like burning money to get warm! :p ('cause we won't ever get anything back for it)

Back to original question: R398 insurance (3rd party, fire, theft) for two cars... ;)

I know my stepfather's X5 is R11,000pm excluding insurance.

My RunX is R2500.00 with a 30% deposit and 30% residual. My insurance is another R1000.00

Cant see myself paying more than 3K...I was looking at vw's website today and can get a polo 1.4 for about 2000 p/m...just not comfortable paying so much.
But i gues you only live once hey:)

let's just say i know how much you earn from the "How much money do you earn? And how do you spend it?" thread whereby you posted and said how much you earn, are you really going to buy a car with the money you currently earn?

Depending on what is actually available, you can spend roughly 25% of your income. If you really need a vehicle, you could save a little for a deposit or even take a slight residual. R1500.00 can get you a Polo.

Damn some of those payments are hectic!!
Not a mathematician but it looks like the average payment would be R2500-R3000 per month without insurance...interesting.

How do you guys plan to pay the residual?i meen where the hell do they expect me to get R40K as my final payment??

Sell the car ? That's actually the idea :/

When I bought my car I knew I was getting some money August this year - so I did whatever I could to keep my monthly payments down. When I settle my car in a few months, I would have paid R230k in total for a R200k car ... not too bad I think

@ sly21C
What i am currently earning is not what i should be earning, its some standard fee that they are giving me as im fresh out of varsity.I will be signing a new contract next month and my manager has said i will be getting at least a 70% increase. So i will be earning at least(But probably more than) R10000 per month basic.I plan on buying the car in December only.

Sell the car dolby?but then you would have to buy another car and pay for it for another 4-5 years!

That's one reason why it's not the best option ;)

Either sell the car and start over with a new car - or get the money from somwhere (parents, save etc). If you can save R1000,00pm, in 54 months you'd have close to R60,000 ...

Lol . . .saving R1000 pm is exactly the same as paying the extra R1000 pm.so my polo will actually cost me R2500 pm, R1500 for payments + R1000 for residual.

That's good bra, so you'll be gatting more than me now .....:(

But with the salary you will be getting after your increase, you'll have more than enough to buy a polo. At the local mall, they did a promotion whereby one can pay R1415 per month for a polo.

Yea ... except that I see as a minimum payment of R1500.00, but when you can you can pay extra. When I got my car, I could afford R3000.00pm on it, but the payment was only R2000.00 and I could save the R1000.00. However on cr@p months (I hit a few) I knew I could get away with the R2000.00 payment.

I think its also worth mentioning the car make, residual if any.

I pay

Corsa 1.4 Club
R2200pm Fixed interest rate of 11.5%, No residual
R900 pm Insurance

Thats the one im thinking of getting sly but the 1.6 is looking like a better option @ about 2K a month.
Two things about that R1450 pm promotion though, you need a 20% deposit which is somethink like 22K and you must pay a 42K residual.

Anybody here drive a polo or golf gti and what are you paying for it?
