How much does a basic Speaker and PA for entertainment venues cost?

I want to buy a set of two speakers and a PA for playing music, especially for special occasions. How much does something like this cost?

I would buy it between December and February.

Well, the Spaza Electronic shops in Jeppestown sell grey imports for around R800 to R1200 a speaker and the PA around R400 to R800.

But you live in Cape Town, don't you?

Hi-fi Corporation? You should be able to get it all for around R3000.00

You're going to need speakers, an amp, and a mixing desk/mixer. As was said previously, it depends on what kind of sounds you're looking for.
