Hi, i bought a merc a few months back, a 2003 C180, it was just serviced on the time, but it needs to be serviced again now in about 4 months time, it will be the 180000km service, does anybody have an idea how much did will be and how much does the services cost on average?

Since Malema bought one the service price has just gone up to R25 000 every 15000
5min, maybe if i am bowling at them 143km per hour i will get a response in 5minutes....lol, it was in the wrong category, that's why i created it in the right category, and if my eyes serves me correct its 2 threats, not 3, but hey, all these numbers can be deceptive hey 115 or was it 143......hahaha
merc services are never cheap.... They are nice and cheap when covered by their motorplan, but heaven help you when it runs out... Also, at 180 000kms, things start to get pricey... (think between 5 to 20k for some of these services...)
I suggest NOT going to merc for the service. Go to a good Merc mechanic and get him to do the services. I have one i use in Rosebank. Please PM me if you want his details. He does a lot of work on mercs, is straight up and does good work.

It depends on what needs to be replaced, I paid R8k for a 150,000km service once (Opel) because not only was it a cambelt service but they also replaces a lot of stuff that would have failed in the near future.

Well let me put that into perspective for you then, the Opel's water pump and pipes were replaced at 150,000km - our W202 C-Class spewed the entire contents of the radiator in the drive way at 118,000km because the water pump went.
Prevention is better than cure, and in my experience that prevention costs a pretty penny on German cars.

I just had my Merc serviced recently.. and it cost just over R1200 iirc, including getting the brakes done.

Unless I'm mistaken its on a sliding scale anyway depending on time since purchase, so it all depends.

I can strongly recommend German Car Conexion in Republic Rd, Randburg. Friendly service. You still pay Merc for the parts which can be expensive but they charge a fraction of the labour and for a Merc out of motor plan they're just the ticket. I use them for my C240 and they've always been excellent.

That's if you're on their motorplan - sliding scale up to 50% of service cost up to 100000kms. I've paid R7500 at Merc for a C240 major service but a C180 will be less. A good independent Merc specialist mechanic though, should be about half of that.

Was up to 50% customer contibution from 60 000 km(10% then 20% etc.), up to 6 years/120 000km.
It's all "free" for 6 years/120 000km now though.
Just a not on this, I spoke to my mechanic and all in all merc services are cheap when done privately.
He even went to say its a fraction of the cost of a Honda Accord, which I was also looking at.
The dealers are the ones that give these cars a bad name for expensive services. That rip the ring out of you.

Its damn cheap to maintain a merc. For a full service, I buy the parts from Merc....oil, air, fuel filters, spark plugs, etc...R200 and then Castrol Magnatec and Castrol anti-freeze R400, Then my mechanic does the rest for two hours; labour @R300/h => R1200...
