Actually recommended as the pill sometimes doesn't take.
Yep that's why they advise you come back after a couple of weeks to check if the abortion was successful.

Why does everyone keep thinking I live in Cape Town?
If I owned Cape Town and Hell, I'd rent out Cape Town and live in Hell.
In a study conducted on rats, during the first month of pregnancy, high doses of vitamin C may suppress the production of progesterone from the corpus luteum.[97] Progesterone, necessary for the maintenance of a pregnancy, is produced by the corpus luteum for the first few weeks, until the placenta is developed enough to produce its own source. By blocking this function of the corpus luteum, high doses of vitamin C (1000+ mg) are theorized to induce an early miscarriage. In a group of spontaneously aborting women at the end of the first trimester, the mean values of vitamin C were significantly higher in the aborting group. However, the authors do state: 'This could not be interpreted as an evidence of causal association.'[98] However, in a previous study of 79 women with threatened, previous spontaneous, or habitual abortion, Javert and Stander (1943) had 91% success with 33 patients who received vitamin C together with bioflavonoids and vitamin K (only three abortions), whereas all of the 46 patients who did not receive the vitamins aborted.[99]
If this option is even considered you are off just as well with a fall down the stairs or using a coat-hanger.The science doesn't seem that clear to me. The last two lines seem to say that, if a woman receives Vitamin C together with Vitamin K and bioflavonoids, she will be fine, but if she receives no Vitamins, she will abort.
There are lots of herbal remedies that they used to use in the ancient times that are actually effective. The problem is, there is a reason we now use abortion drugs - they are a lot safer for the woman. You can try things like an overdose of Vitamin C, but I don't see any studies about its safety.
If it was safe to use, a lot of women would just take a Vitamin C overdose every month and not have to worry about the pill.

EDIT:
Good article on the subject
Correct. Early termination is merely medication. Ordinary Nurofen will help with the cramps. Over in half a day. The sooner the better therefore. You guys are largely referring to a late-trimester termination where physical and/or surgical intervention is required. If the pregnancy is in the first trimester you are given medication which triggers the termination, which is comparable to a early miscarriage. The woman experiences essentially a heavy period, with possible cramping, and that it that.
The longer a woman waits to terminate the pregnancy, the more physical intervention is required. Unfortunately the whole stigma surrounding abortion is contributing to women delaying it for too long.
