How much does interior paint cost

What is a good acrylic paint to paint a bedroom and a lounge and passage? It's a 1 bedroom flat what paint should I use?

I currently have grey walls but wanted to paint them white. How many coats would I need to do? I was thinking of painting myself and hopefully they don't take to long to dry

I live in Cape Town and can get to any hardware store

Not sure you want acrylic paint for this?

But my go-to interior paint is Dulux Luxurious Silk, it goes on super easily and you likely won't have to do more than 2 coats (only the wall you painting over is really dark).

It's not the cheapest, but it's usually about the same price as the Plascon alternative.

Recently painted my place out in this colour: https://www.dulux.co.za/en/colour-palettes/kitten-white-30yy-78-035-3045762

Came out really nice.

I saw if I used acrylic paint it already has a primer in it its a 3 in 1 and I thought its easy to just paint the walls

is 20L to much for me?

Okay, I think most of these paints are probably classified as acrylics, I just associate that word with craft paints.

Just don't buy Dulux Acyrlic PVA, it's fine for ceilings but is terrible as covering existing paint.

You haven't specific how large the space is you want to paint, so I can't tell you is 20L is too much :laugh:

I've got 40 liters of this sitting in my lounge as my handman begins prepping my walls for painting :)

Got it on "special" at Brights in December. Pure white - will see how it goes.

One bedroom flat; 20l should be more than enought?

I wouldn't go acrylic myself - should be a water-based paint for interiors?

All that was specified was a bedroom, a lounge and a passage. It's impossible to know how large these spaces are.

But one can make an educated guess that it isn't a place that you can have a game of cricket in. So 20l should still be more than enough.

Well indoor paint should last long as they don't get sun or weather. You don't really have to go for the most expensive paint. You should still buy a known brand and their Velvet/sheen/Silk option. As indoors you enemy is things touching the paint and you have to wash it clean. So a good washable paint. If you had a Chamberlains you could buy their Wall velvet that is a bit cheaper than the Dulux/Plascon options but just as good.
2 coats will be fine if you have good paint, but it also depends if you can paint properly. Bad painter = many coats.
How much paint you need is difficult. How big is the living areas? Is there tiles on walls in bathroom and kitchen?
20L is probably way to much. But look at price of 5L. If 3x 5L price is the same as 1 x 20L then rather buy a 20L

5L was around R800-900 when I was buying last month, 20L at R2700 (the tinted variant which is a bit more expensive). So it wouldn't really make sense to buy 3 x 5L.
 
I bought this, is it safe to paint the bedroom early tomorrow morning and still be able to sleep in the room?

You could not have bought anything worse. That is like contractors cheap paint for ceilings or newly plastered walls.
Its not going to wash easily and your choice of white will make it even a bigger problem.
There is a reason everyone told you to buy some Silk or Velvet paint. They are shiny. Shiny paint means easy washable. Yours is matt paint. One use matt paint on ceiling as shiny paint looks bad on ceilings and your ceiling will not really need washing.

Anyway all these indoor paint will be dry within an hour per coat, depending on outside temp and if you leave windows etc open. And you can sleep there. They don't have to many chemicals. Enamel and especially things like universal undercoat have a strong chemical smell. Water base paints not.
