I'm trying to put some stuff together for a 21st, and looking for the cost of certain items in 1987 :-

Ave House.....R83 000
Ave Car.......
Petrol.......
Stamp.....
Flour.....
Eggs......
Bacon.....
Ice Cream.
bread
milk
Ave Salary/income

also any quirky news from South Africa during '87

Actually, no. Its just the method of killing that's changed. Less pipe bombs, more hijackings.

EDIT: Oh and they aren't referred to as terrorists anymore. We now call them Your Honour or Minister of Sports.

If I remember correctly, my dad bought a BMW 325i in 1990 for R80,000.00 or so. So 3 years prior R65,000? *shrug*

I think your house price is pretty spot on - as we got a house in 1986 for R85,000 as well.

Weird - houses and cars were pretty similar!

My dad bought a Merc 200 for R55,000-R60,000 in 1987, actually now that I come to think of it.
