Should be about R299... Space TV, Zakspeed and probably in blister packs at places like Game.

Along the same topic, my parents just put the 2 single view decoders for xtraview. Now my mom says they quoted R1300 for installation, which is for the Twin LNB and then the cost of the cable per metre between the 2 decoders. To me this sounds waaaayy too much, any comments on their experience?

So she already has a current single LNB setup?

If so then that does seem a bit much, but there will also be a 2nd cable running from the dish so take that into account as well
Why dont you be a good son & just get someone to fit the twin LNB & then you can climb on the roof & in the ceiling & run the cables to the decoders ;)

Well basically what she has atm is 1 REALLY old decoder, bought around 1998 :p So today they went out and bought the setup with 2 of those DSD1110 decoders, I'm not sure on the exact model but it's just that baseline package with the really ugly looking decoders :p

So we have a dish, just a normal LNB (which will need to be replaced with the twin LNB) and the 2 new decoders.

How much does it normally cost for the twin LNB + installation? So I can give my mom a ballpark when she asks around for quotes :)

Those new cr@ppy ones are 1131, 1110 was the better previous model

Well as has been said above you could get a twin LNB for around R300. When i did my setup I got an installer to just fit it for me, he charged me R150
I then did the cabling myself which was around R80 for 20m if my memory serves me right
If the guy charges R200 an hour then 2 hours MAX, so R400 labour + R300 LNB + R160 cabling, so that is a bit much in my opinion

Do the set up yourself. It's not that difficult. The dish is allready set, just replace the LNB, Run a cable to each decoder from the LNB and another cable between the two decoders (called a heart beat cable) that goes into the RF ports in the decoders. If you get stuck just go to dstv.co.za forum, thier is a download that shows exactly how to do it. Or PM me and I'll try and help.
