I would like to know what you can accept to pay, for a freelance web developer that has above average skill in html, wordpress and php. Or let me ask like this, if you are a freelance web developer, how much do you ask per hour.

accept -> expect?

It depends on the developer. Anything from R250 to R750+ per hour.

R250/h equals R40,000 a month. You'll need to be pretty good. Web/PHP development doesn't pay that well.

Been answered 100000000 times

WHAT IS YOUR TIME WORTH TO YOU???

Mine is R40k per month divided by the amount of hours I'm willing to work in that month

It pays very well if you know WTF you're doing, the reason why it doesn't generally pay well is because most companies think they can hire 50 developers for cheap and expect amazing results

what you are going to pay and what you expect to be paid is 2 very different things....

Freelance pays well, per hour. Permanent position, not always, with the exception of senior devs or generous HR depts.

C/C++ more than SAP or C/C++ with SAP. Your turn.

Really? They dont look so well paid here compared to other languages.

There was no SAP average, but when I did the google I get: SAP ABAP Developer $106,000
http://www.indeed.com/salary/SAP-ABAP-Developer.html

Using the same website to check C devs showed that they average around $72 000 a year while the C++ devs earn around $94 000 a year. Both less than the SAP devs.

Im not confident on the reliability of your opinion. Yup, more googling doesnt seem to support your opinion at all. I have checked several websites and C and C++ developers earn significantly less than SAP devs. In fact, C and C++ devs seem to earn less than a lot of other programming languages.

Our PHP dev earns in excess of 50k a month. It pays bloody well from what I am seeing.

Ruby devs earn way more ;)

Yeah, and SAP devs earn even way more. Im sure we could do this all day.

meh... highly skilled drug dealers earn > than all ^ slapped together. Drug lords earn > than highly skilled drug dealers. Risks often outweigh the rewards though. Anything higher and you must be fairly high up the ANC ladder or related to Dina Pule's boyfriend.

On a serious note you could have two very different salaries/rates per hour for the same type of position/skill set. There's many variables in that equation.

My original quote that you quoted had context. I was responding to biometrics.

True, which is why I looked for averages.
