How often do you change cellphone numbers?

One CellC number and two Vodacom numbers in about 10 years. Current number has been in use circa 2007. I was one of the last high school kids without a phone and even to this day I'm not too worried about phones. Blackberries, iPhones, meh, two-year old Nokia E63 for me thanks.

First change is obvious, CellC to Vodacom. Second change was due to a two-year trip ovreseas so the number "died".

Had a Vodcom number with my first phone, prepaid. When I got a contract with cell c, that became my primary number and it still is. So once for me.

Think about 10-12 years go. Still have the same number since then.

But my VC contract is done this month, wanting to port now to cell c.

The Average Industry Churn is between 15% to 25%, Monthly.
We Clean Numbers for Large Corporates and You will be surprised to see the Churn they have
One Month the number is active and the next its Off-Network, only to re-appear months later with a new user.
And these are for Clients that have been on Book for a very long time.

This is getting worse as the state of the Debt in the Country is driving this, People dont want to be tracked so they simply stop the Old Nmber and get a new one.
They will never Port as the number will follow them, they require a whole new one.

Had mine for roughly 10 years. But i think its time to change it, getting WAY too much spam these days.

I still have my original number, only one, am still on Vodacom prepaid since the beginning. (12 Years)
(and on my third phone - the first one was a bright pink Siemens brick, since then I am on my second Sony Ericsson - getting a new phone for Xmas this year)

can't believe that I have had a cellphone for 13 years already... bliksem

About 4 times in 12 years.

Weird thing is it sometimes seems that new contracts are better than the upgrade deals.

A few times before porting became available. Now I keep the same number and have so far used it on MTN, Cell C and Vodacom.

Third number since moving back to South Africa in June 2004 but my current number I have had since June 2005. I doubt I will be changing it ever....
