Hey guys :) something I'm curious about: how often do you upgrade your electronic devices?

Your cellphone? Well, I recently got an S4 so only plan to upgrade when my contract expires.

I still have my 3rd Gen iPad (got it beginning of 2013) - it looks brand new and works amazingly still. I guess I will only upgrade once it starts slowing down and such - probably next year. But how often do you upgrade your tablet? Every time there is a new iPad... Or not?

Seems Like I go the usual 2 year route.

:)

PS: sorry Mods, had no idea where to post this.

I still have my iPad 3. It's not exactly ninja fast with iOS7 but it gets the job done. I normally upgrade my phone as per MTN contract.

When incumbent is completely and utterly fubared. Used my Nokia candybar 5320 until the screen fell out. I still love that phone.

My contract is due April this year, I got a Note 1 when I last upgraded it, between I have purchased the Nexus 4 & last week the Nexus 5... My tablet I got on a data contract, which is for work, I just found out it was due in Oct 2013, but someone higher in the company used my upgrade for something else

Generally every two years when it comes to phones and "whenever I break it" with my macbooks. Until my recent purchase of the retina mini ipad all of my ipads were gifts from various sources to various family members (we have currently pressed into service the iPad, iPad2, iPad3, and original mini).

I'll probably keep my iPhone 5 until it breaks though so it may well last longer than the typical two years.

Ditto - I recently upgraded my Nokia N95 to a 720 simply 'cos I needed a Windows phone for app testing. Otherwise ... :)

Normally when the need is there.
I am due for an upgrade on my Iphone4 for the last 4 months, but I am going to wait untill the end of the year when hopefully the Iphone 6(or whatever it will be called) comes out, then only upgrade.

Phones - When apple says so (take the non S versions when they come out, so usually every 2 years) Laptops a bit harder to call, but would round to 3 years. Had the iPad 2 and now have a mini with retina, but went without a tablet for quite a while.

Apple devices seem to be quite easy to resell and hold value reasonably well so recouping a portion of what you paid is quite easy.

When the old device breaks or no longer does what i need it to.

Every 2 year upgrade for my phone. With apple so i'm on the 'S' cycle. Still have my ipad 3 also. No plans to upgrade that

Mobile phones every four years or so. Sometimes longer. Laptops and computers until they break or not performing adequately. The latter is becoming less and less likely with the performance of modern hardware.

I upgraded iPad 1 to iPad 3 because of retina display. I honestly see no reason to upgrade for several years at least. I haven't purchase anything substantial in over 6 months too. The thing works well enough - browsing works OK, youtube OK, email OK, Pages - don't use but that works, video - works. I have some free and some pay games on the thing. Liberation Maiden, Overkill 2, ZombieGal, the idolm@ster Shiny Festa games, Miku games, Cave games like ESPGaluda2 etc. all that stuff works OK.
