This has to be the most misleading article I have ever read on this website. You take Telkom's best (most expensive) offering and compare it to the worst (cheapest) offerings overseas? And then you tell us we should basically be happy with Telkom because things could be worse.

The "worst" product, Australia's Telstra's 2 gig elite (20MB/s) costs +-R140pm and the 8Mb/s version costs +-R70pm. But for just +-R490pm you can get a 200Gig cap at 20MB/s, throttled to 256kbps thereafter.

Please keep it real! Telkom is the absolute pits and no amount of statistical gymnastics will disguise this fact.

It's actually pointless quoting any Oz internet figures, as it differs from region to region. The cities have good, cheap internet, but out in the suburbs/smaller towns it's different - my brother's in a small town in NSW, and his best option is arond R500 for 8mbit, 40gig cap, and when that cap is hit the internet stops for the rest of the month. And his case isn't uncommon. Even when you watch 1st world, tech-savvy podcasts like TWiT, they're constantly complaining about their service and coverage outside the cities. Expensive, slow, unreliable.
