How quickly can you spend R14 million?

A report in the Dispatch reveals how accounting student Sibongile Mani allegedly spent R20,000 within two hours of having R14.14 million accidentally transferred into her account in June 2017.

As a responsible person that has responsibilities, I would spend R20k in about 3 weeks.

R14 mil, correctly handled, is "I'll retire right now" kind of money.

Depends, if its legitimately earned then sure stash it away and live off it. If it's not then you're not exactly going to go the "no fun" route. Then it's buy a lambo right now money :)

If legit, retire. If not, you place it all in an account it all and you don't touch it. At least if the mistake is discovered you can give it back, but in the meantime interest will be, well, interesting.

If it's about spending it as fast as possible, I'm pretty sure I can manage to buy cars at a dealership up to an amount of R14 million in a few minutes.

If acceptable, I can also ask consultant friends to invoice me R14 million for "business services".

100% this...

As fast as possible would be a few minutes at most....

Sure you can give it to some one for services rendered in one shot. Reminds me of the Brewster's Millions movie, where Richard Pryor has to spend 30 million in 30 days, get value for the money spend without having any assets at the end of the 30 days.I think having to spend 30 million without having a single asset and getting value for what is spend, makes it a lot more difficult.

The getting value part would be tricky, but still doable depending on how you define value...

I can spend many hundreds of thousands per day for accomodation, but it would be high end luxury resort type stuff.

The charge sheet also alleged that Mani referred to herself on a social media account as “Sibongile Money”.

All the money in the world can't buy you class.

If I were her (clear lack of moral fibre) I would have spent the LOT on a crypto such as Tether.

Lets face it, there is no way she is facing serious jail time. If she spent it "wisely", at least there is something waiting when she is done with her 1/2 year jail term.

I'd blow more than 1mil in the first 5min. I'd pay off my house. While I dont currently have car payments I would pay that up next, if I did. And and and....

I could blow the 1st 10mil quite responsibly in the first week. Then invest the rest and work less. Work will continue because I enjoy eorking.

If it's not my money....very very quickly.

If it's confirmed to be mine...very very slowly to make it reach for the rest of my life.
