How quickly life changes

the scary thing about breast cancer must be the idea that your body's betrayed you. as far as looking good after a mastectomy i suggest you contact barclay and clegg who are the south african agents for Anita prosthetics. buy your wife a couple of nice mastectomy bras and prosthetics - they are the most comfortable and natural looking/feeling boobs you could wish for and they'll boost her confidence. depending on your medical aid you might be able to claim. BTW you have to go the the pretoria shop - they have the full range. http://www.bclingerie.co.za
^This. The body-image issues catch people off guard because everyone is worrying about the medical side.

update

So we went to Oncologist yesterday and it seems that it is Stage 1B cancer, which is good. Well as good as news like that can be. She had a CAT scan and it seems that the cancer did not spread to the lymph glands, or any of the organs. She will be getting 6 treatments of chemo over an 18 week period as a preventative measure only.

According to her the worst part of yesterday was the fluid she had to drink prior to the Scan. 1 cup every 15 minutes for an hour. she doesn't drink at all and it smells just like Sambuca :wtf:

Awesome news, bud! Well, no cancer is good cancer but she was at a very early stage and you sorted it out in time. I'm sure everything will be fine from here on. Good luck to her with the Chemo! Hopefully she'll handle it well. :)

it was probably something containing iodine(could be wrong on the name). They make people drink it as it then colours the body tissue it flows through so that they can see what's going on...

So,

My wife is starting chemo tomorrow. Hold thumbs that the effects wont be as bad.

Wishing strength to you guys and know that anything worth doing is going to take some pain but it's the end-result that you're interested in.

These days cancer is a reality for everyone, I was reading up on it, and men have a 1 in 4 chances of getting some form, and woman 1 in 5.

Good-luck :(

So she had the first session of chemo last thursday. Went OK, no nausea, nothing. Then on Sunday and MOnday it hit her. She was feeling really KARK. But she is doing so much better since then. Only another 5 sessions (15 weeks) left.

Was going through my photos when i came accross this photo. Chemo is a bitch !!!! when you see someone everyday, you don't realise how they are deteriorating.

Luckily she's MUCH better and looking as good as ever now !!!!!!
