After seeing that the same plane which had an engine failure now had another problem with the other engine.

I have to fly from Cape Town to Durban on the 8th of September on 1time. :(
Is anybody here in the industry? Surely this is just bad maintaince of the planes?

It seems like I'm going to struggle to get my money back according to this thread http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/410737-CPA-and-flight-tickets/page3

Have no idea. But according to some of my mechanic (aircraft mechanic) friends, only 3% of plain crashes are from bad aircraft, mostly pilots that make mistakes.

Eish I hope they still around by end of nov, recently booked 6k worth of tickets...

Maintenance is governed by the maufacturer (boeing) ACSA and is audited.
Technicals happen to everyone, bad luck happens too.

I would be more worried about them running out of money.
As a airline you should have your cash position equal to the amount of unflown tickets you have.
1Time is and has been eating away at their cash position for the last year or so.

It's only a matter of time....

I am sure that there is no major problems at the airline (I hope).

As far as I know there are issues with the one aircraft that had engine problems twice in one week and was forced to make emergency landings at Durban. There is now an investigation into this one aircraft and not the whole airline company, but I stand to be corrected.

Also, 1Time has been around for some time and have a good flight record this far.

I do not have the percentages with me right now, but it is true that Pilot Error do account for the majority of airplane crashes, commercially and other combined.

They're perfectly fine to fly.

I agree....I would not be very worried. BUT....seeing that I am also human and have fallible human emotions and instinct....flying on a plane that is almost as old as my mother just makes me damn uneasy! 1TIME....upgrade your planes ffs!

Why fly 1time if you don't like them, there's plenty of others to choose from

Have not flown for a while...but when I did...they always worked out a bit cheaper. But if you read my post again....you will see that I said I would not be worried...but their planes does invoke a instinctive fight or flight response in me lol. My higher brain functions overrules this though.

They are stupid not to upgrade their fleet anyway. Those old planes are very fuel hungry compared to the planes on the market today. They are going to pay through their bums with the oil price as it is. Yes they got the planes cheap cheap...but at some point the advantage of that gets eaten away by what you are paying for the extra fuel to keep the thing flying.

Do 1t have boeings? or do they service MD as well.

The SENS announcement put out this evening won't help their cause.
