How safe is the new VW Golf?

EuroNCAP has awarded the new VW Golf with five stars (out of five) for its ability to protect occupants in a crash.

The sixth-generation Golf also scored 36 points out of a possible 37 for driver and passenger protection.
Furthermore the Golf was also given four stars for child safety and three stars for pedestrian safety.

Ive never doubted saftey of VWs build recently ... but have you ever seen a crash test of the Golf 1 ? Scary, scary stuff.
 
so a golf is quite safe?

I will NEVER buy a Tata, saw yesterday how the engine of a Tata sits on the front seat of a TATA, was a BAD accident, just sad.
 
JK8, nobody's ever questioned the safety of the Golf 5 AFAIK. It's the Citigolf that people have said is a death trap. And I may have said that there are safer cars than the Polo, but even the Polo gets 4 stars Euro NCAP (although our local Polos have less safety equipment than the Euro specced ones).
 
you cant trust the Ncap anymore though... everyone just puts strengthners here, a little metal here and Bam, 5 stars, thats why all the cars recently are cracking it, the realised the tricks. Ncap tests need to become more random to be trusted again.
 
All these safety tests mean shyte in the real world where cars are crashing at very high speeds, and these tests are only done at a low speed of 60km/h. These tests cant be taken literally . . .

Reason why tests are done at those speeds is because thats the maximum speed at which all those fancy safety systems can protect you as well as the general structure of the vehicle,anything higher than that is impossible for the vehicle manufacturers to predict how the car would take the damage as well as the human body can't handle de-celeration speeds higher than 60 km/h very well.As weird as it sounds,one that has an accident higher than 60km/h can be lucky to be alive
