I've noticed how some say that the custom roms make the phone 'snappy'. However, I have yet to see ANY lag on mine. ;)

Last night I encoded my Batman Dark Knight movie for the Hero, and it played beautifully. :love:

I really love this phone.

For interest sake, I will do a small comparison with my old phone - the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.

The Nokia was a VERY good phone. No doubt.
It had all the features I could ask for.
However, it did have a few quirks..

Not charging through USB. Why? This is awesomely handy..
Ugly UI. Let's face it, a UI is half the phone...

There was also a very weird hardware issue/s...

The phone would halt every-now-and-then. Became very annoying after numerous ROM updates.. :mad:
Then there was a curious 'gap' on the top right corner.. Why? By design (must be - since all 5800's had them..)? :wtf:

Now I have the Hero. So far it has been faultless. The battery lasts as long as my 5800 lasted (roughly 4 days). :D

All I need to do now - is MODIFY !!!! :twisted:
 
+1 Simply amazing phone. Best gadget I own by far!
How sensitive and responsive is the screen?! Love it :love:
@ Identity: How do you get 4 days out of your Hero?? I must be playing to much on my phone. 'Cause mine only last about a day and a half, which I guess is on par with most smart touch phones?

Well it could be down to the 'wow' factor... :D
It's still a new toy, so just let it run down totally, charge it up fully (phone must be off), and use.. ;)

I have only really listened to music on it.. I haven't tried WIFI tethering, GPS etc. :o

I also wanna know how to get Ndrive working on it. :(
 
I'll try the "charging with the phone off" but I do listen to audio books, and use all facebook and twitter goodies.
What's the awake time on your phone's? I'm at about 19% at the moment

That a feature I love about my HTC, So easy to charge where ever you are

And Mods are awesome! :D
 
anyone tried layar from the market... this augmented reality thing is so awesome...
 
Only *slightly* off topic here, but can any of you guys with Heros tell me what GPS software it comes bundled with in SA? Does it include life-time navigation or a certain trial period? Works on SA roads? Aaaaand lastly does it store maps and not require constant downloading (which is the one problem I hear about Google's offering)
 
nope, only has google maps as standard. but most of us are running ndrive which is pretty darn good
 
Ah Thankies.....one last rather important question then though......How expensive is ndrive?

ndrive is now free download from Market... but SA maps is 70-80 euros... i got mine long ago the eyepatch, wooden leg and parrot on shoulder way... :( only costed about R200 in bandwidth costs and half a day of research...
 
yeah its pretty easy to find it on the net ;) otherwise on the market
