How the Internet killed newspapers

I still read the news paper however that is out of habit. The real news I get online.
 
I'd thought that they'd save on paper, and to include printing media, and if you take what a fancy magazine page would cost to print they'd save significant on that cost. Yet haven't seen prices of that go down even a bit. No wonder Naspers is the biggest company in SA.
 
Have not purchased a newspaper or magazine since the early 2000's I think.

You don't save trees by not using the products of trees. They're a renewable resource, therefore if you want more trees to be planted - consume tree products. Thanks to the internet athe land that has thus far been used to grow trees is liable to turn a bigger profit by clearing forests to cultivate land for bio-fuels and hamburgers.

McDonald's burgers are a paper base product anyway.
 
I get a free newspaper when I fly out from OR Tambo. They hand the stuff out at the checkin counters..

That's the only paper I have read in SA

We're still going to use toilet paper...
 
I used to live reading The Star but stopped buying when the front page top half was a picture of a face and the bottom half was adverts.
 
Newspapers arent dead, yet, but they're struggling. On of the bigger papers in PE just laid off 2/3rds of their photographers leaving them with just one guy to photograph everything. I'm sure they're hoping that the wire services will be able to cover what he can't but I have my doubts.

Quality analysis isn't as readily available online. At least not for free. Free online news is just the usual garbage.
