How to access NetFlix?

Still having issues of quality with Netflix and it is not a wifi issue (can transfer content at 5MB/s to the local hard drive over wifi).

Using the 8 day trial Unotelly DNS and have activated my IP address. Tried Netflix on Mac and WDTV and both stream poor quality. Has anybody got this working with HD content on their WDTV. Tried configuring each device with DNS and my router and I see no difference.

Also, using Unotelly downgrades my Youtube experience from no buffer HD (400KB/s) to buffering HD (200kB/s).

Next thing to try is another service provider, but I doubt Openweb is the issue. Any guidance would be appreciated.
 
People just use Tunlr FOR FREE!!!

No Unotelly required unless you absolutely want to pay for it.

I started with Tunlr. Used to get regular DNS dropouts and nothing would work. Then it would just start working again.
Not had the same problem with UnoTelly.
So for me, we'd rather pay someone and get stability.

If it's stable for you, then bonus.

How long did you play the video for?
The quality normally improves to HD after about a minute.
 
Quality on Mac, Win7 and WDTV is poor for Netflix, nothing much better than 384sd for a whole movie.

Not sure if my TV is the issue. It is a 6 year old Sentech that can handle 1080p but no DRM encoding chip on it.

Also reset my WDTV while having Unotelly configured on router, HuluPlus is now available and that has not solved the issued.

ISP is Openweb, 30GB capped account. Will try my Afrihost and FNBconnect account and see if they improve things.
 
Afrihost increased speed to 480sd for a few minutes. Will do some tests with lan cables and router over the weekend to see if I can isolate the issue.

On the DNS settings, have you set to Capetown as first, and then I use London as second. With this, using Ps3, ipad 2and 3 or Apple TV HD, I get a full HD and a super image. After a slight buffer on initial selection, about 15 seconds and I'm on to full res. I'm on a 4 meg line with TI, Netgear 2200dg something, telkom router.
 
@Sean008, have you tried it with a WDTV or laptop. Tried CT as first and Germany as second on my Tomato firmware (asus 16RT router).

I am at my wits end. Confirmed it was not my TV, it streamed 720HD, but only at the credits at the end of a movie.

Tried using my adsl modem as dial-up, that did not help. Tried DNS on laptop, on wdtv, on mac, on router. cannot stream on 720HD.
Tried Afrihost, OpenWeb and FNBConnect on my 10Mbps, that did not help.

Tried Tunelr, got it to stream at 480SD, which is decent quality, so I don't think the DNS is the issue. Any suggestions.
 
Could your exchange be congested? Try to ping 196.43.22.222 to see if the latency is reasonable.

Have you tried logging in to your Netflix account using pc, or in my case ipad. Click "your account", under "your streaming plan", select "manage video quality. " you should see three options of quality : Good, Better, Best. Make certain that best is selected, and then " update preferences. Restart your devices, update ip on Unotelly and see if that makes a difference. I don't have WDTV so haven't tried that. Also haven't tried on laptop yet. Let us know if there's any change.
 
Think I might have a congestion issue, last night was hovering around 2Mbps to 3Mbps, this morning 5am, was 7Mbps. But weird thing is I can stream Youtube 720p with no issues, anytime. Will try a few other service providers and see if I can resolve.
 
You can also get up to 6 months free unotelly by sharing their face book page or twitter. I suppose you could get more with extra face book profiles and gmail accounts if one is so inclined :)
