Thanks to Google maps they can plan from the comfort of their treehouse. My house orientation, means my panels face east and west instead of north. The same orientation makes it hard to see my panels from the street.

In my area there are plenty flat-roof houses, the panels are all visible from the street, and the fact that they are so accessible makes them very vulnerable
I don't know whether the yards are secure, what I do know is "out of sight, out of mind"And the yards are not secured? (which would make them vulnerable for any other crime too)

My neighbor's business workshop had all the panels stolen overnight. Now they put sensors on each panel and an electric fence around the roof edges. WTAF.

I also don't think it's very widespread. It takes a lot of effort and time and thieves are looking for easy targets without being seen. This is 100 % fake news. Panels are extremely heavy and will require a team of people. Also, if it takes hours to fix them down to a roof, it will take hours to get all them out. The noise created removing them and the fact that your entire neighborhood can see and hear people on your roof speaks volumes of how silly this news story is.

Someone tried to steal our broken gate motor. Couldn't manage it and he moved on to the water pipes. Cell towers have batteries stolen which are just connected by two wires if you don't take extra measures which they now are and they're also mostly out of sight because that's how residents want it.Huh.
It's as real as the sun outside. Have you seen how fast they empty out a place when they break in?
It's not the same effort that goes into the installation as when they steal it.
If it's fake why do you see all these cell towers etc. next to the road with solar installed and barriers of security around it?
