Hi Guys
After months of battling with Vodacom’s way below standard blackberry service I finally decided enough is enough.
Has anybody here ever cancelled a contract before the 24 months was up?
What do I need to do this?
Also if the contract is being cancelled because the service provider can’t provide the service I’m paying for will the cancellation penalties still be as hectic?
Thanks in advance,

Seriously considering this route as well, please advise if you have had experience of cancelling too.

I don't mind paying, I really just want the service I am paying for to be delivered, if it is not being delivered then I just feel that I am being shafted, not good at all

I would rather pay for a data bundle that works, not this unstable Blackberry Internet (pathetic) Service from Vodacom

I hate MTN, and Vodacom for that matter, but I am very happy with the MTN BIS so far. Also, MTN does not have data restrictions on BIS whereas Vodacom do.

If it's Autopage, its almost impossible...

If you are wondering why, the look here:

BIS not being served

This is like a car without petrol on a lonely stretch of road, going nowhere slowly

BTW, nothing wrong with the sites I was trying to reach as I could on my PC.

Well I managed to get a call logged last night for a more senior person in the cancellation call centre to contact me today.
Will update this post when I get feedback.

I tried speeding up the process by phoning the vodashop that I signed my contract with. They directed me to the same cancellation call centre.
Guess I'll just have to wait.

Ok so after more than 2 weeks of logging calls, phoning just about everybody in Vodacom and chatting to VCD (he is trying but they are ignoring him also) I am yet to even get an answer how to do this.

Really bad service.

Well, 8 days to go, maybe things will really improve after VC sorts out their BIS.

I think they will have to sort it properly, because if they fail to deliver then that may just be the straw which breaks the camels back.

MTN got their act together quite quickly, no one is complaining about their BIS, actually the opposite.

So if VC fails, and if it results in a mass exodus then they will only have themselves to blame.

Of course, VC also needs to uphold their end of the contract.

This thread has been singularly quiet on your original question, no feedback at all

Sometimes one just has to cut ones losses, and move on.

Hmmm, there is a Storm 2 and even a Bold 2 on the horizon and the lads in yellow will be stocking them too :erm:

enjoy MTN's billing screw ups astound.....bye bye now *waving* :p kidding

Lets all try and be positive. And everyone...STOP DOING YOUR SPEEDTEST THINGS! You clogging it up even more bloody hell! :D :p

I will be completely honest and say that I have never had a billing issue on MTN, true as faith.

To be even more honest, I am on the MTN Anytime 100 Top up package so billing will always be consistent :D

Being positive is what I yearn for see my signature?

The Speed test is the true catch 22 situation, have to do it to show just how badly BIS sucks, but killing it even more in the end, we finally have had acknowledgement of the problem not in spite of it, but because of it.

BTW, this thread is about How to Cancel a Vodacom Contract which could be a _positive_ move for the OP, depends on how you view it and where you sit.

My very first line above is offering encouragement to wait for the 8 days at least, but if that deadline has past without a _positive_ outcome, what can I say?

I was pulling your leg more than anything else.

Regarding the speedtest...that was a joke also. Just fooling around. Trying to lighten things up a bit :-)

Back on topic. Canceling a contract with Vodacom prematurely can be done, but penalties will apply. If the client raises a issue like this BIS one, it will most likely be dealt with on merit and will take a bit of time for a decision to be reached.

You were pulling my leg, really, are you sure?

Hmmm, you were so focussed on _my_ leg you did not even notice me pulling yours? :D

You are an excellent ambassador for VC and yes I do thank you for your assistance and always positive approach.

Back on topic: The OP is aware of this and asked what he would need to do in order to action this, but as can be seen, two weeks later no further than the first day, in spite of numerous calls and even VD's intervention, no conclusion, just delaying tactics.

Keeping fingers crossed that grapjas is going to be positive

mmm lot of leg pulling. Carefull that it does not turn into a Voda vs MTN wrestle :-)

I can not believe I am going to say this...but if he would like he can PM so that I may get in touch to see if I can perhaps assist him with his cancellation should he still wish to proceed. Perhaps now that VD have told us about the upgrade he is willing to hang tight a bit longer.

*looking into the future and can see a faint hint of a moerse backfiring coming my way*

ocleroux, I think we would rather prefer you to be here to help us with our queries, you are doing a great job as I have said many times before, no leg pulling now, I am serious.

No need for you to put yourself in the firing line of a moerse backfire.

grapjas started this thread, he decides for himself.

The Voda vs MTN wrestle started when VC BIS went south while MTN BIS went North :o

Positively looking forward to the 24 October so that my signature can be changed to a bold YES ;)

Dont forget to make the YES bright red...with little twirling sparkling stars flying around it...does mybb support graphics like that hehe.

Thank you for the compliment astound. Hope you decide to stay a VC customer for a long time to come. Lets see what the 24th have in store :)

Last ciggie and then off to bed. Have lost complete track of time.

cheerios

Morning I cancelled my Yebo For Less199 contract last month, the lady at the vodacom4u store in Welkom ( The one in Liberty Centre)( Du to the high data cost)

The lady did all the paper work for me and told me that I will just have to pay the last payment the end of September and after that there will be no more.

But .. yesterday I phoned 111 to find out what is going on and so ( I must do my budget) .. and the lady at the accounts told me they have received the fax but the contract will only go dead in December.

I in the meantime installed ADSL, taking the lady at vodacom4u store’s word that the contract will go dead this month so I am kinda screwed and have to sell stuff to make sure that I have cash in my account for all the debit orders .. someone please help

Kimbo

How on earth do you budget Kimbo?????

Never and i say NEVER take some consultant or sales persons word for granted. She works in the store, not VC accounts, so it's not her place to make those promises. Don't blame VC for this though, rather blame that poppie. Hope your problem is sorted though. :)

Ocleroux, I want a free apn from VC please. Can you help? :D :p Im really hoping data costs come down on VC, im enjoying my 3g connection. :)

Re. The budget .. Well Me, Excel and some time try to make some sense of the spending :)

Re. The Consultant, Well I thought it will be okay to accept her word, but like you said I will NEVER make that mistake again.
