Random (and probably silly) question.... I just got my router today and FTTH is finally on!! Thank you Cool Idea’s!! BUT how do I check my data usage?

I know, I know.... it’s uncapped and unshared etc etc etc so why do I want to know.... it’s juat because I’m inquisitive ....

I tried to download “My Data Manager” but it’s not telling me what I need to know and I just find that it’s not very user friendly... I really am just looking for a basic (and very accurate) usage monitor.

Any idea’s?

Check the traffic monitor of your router. Log in, there should be an option.

i feel your pain, asked my ISP donkeys years ago and they said they cannot, so I use Bandwidth+ for Mac but it only tells me on my MAC what I am doing and not on cell phones, Smart TV etc.

yup there is on my TP Link and it is measured in bytes, scary when i see a massive number like that and then have to calculate it all back to MB and GB :laugh::ROFL::laugh:
Long time ago when I was living in Gordons Bay my ISP there GBAY.CO.ZA would send me a daily report.
Do ISPS's even send reports anymore?

Cool Ideas responded to my query and stated that they offer an uncapped service so don’t offer monitoring stats (which makes sense) and when I downloaded “Tether” for my Archer TP20 it didn’t offer a traffic option. How do I log in as you mentioned @joeline ?

Thankfully mine gives me the option to choose mb/gb. In this instance convertme is your friend. I remember those early days waiting for the daily email and the telkom account at the end of the month, dialup.

ahh the days, telskum and their R7 a weekend call to login but you never were connected entire weekend. "They" dropped your call so you dial in again for another 7 rond

I think it is 192.168.1.1 in the browser, username admin and password admin. Change your password at the same time. Otherwise search login detals for your router.

Thanks - did this and didn’t manage to find traffic stats:

Cool ideas don't even measure your usage, never mind report on it

Thanks - appreciate it!!
I’m not technical at all (clearly)!!
I cannot find anything in the manual, click around and see if you can find anything that says traffic manager. Keep in mind not all routers have it. This is how mine looks like.Screenshot_2019-03-06-19-31-14.jpeg

I think my router is a “cheapie”!!! No luck but really appreciate you helping!!!

You could tally it on every device.
Android has it built in, W10 as well.

For LG it's the other tab in mobile data for some reason.

Only happened if you did not also get them to reconfigure the line not to drop a call after an hour. That was a default, customers wanted and it was implemented as a blanket setting. If you then wanted the unlimited weekend service, YOU needed to get the cut off set to 0. Many people did not want any connection to go on for longer than one hour.
It is all about reading the paperwork. It was on the account, even had a special number to call to get the setting changed. R T F M!
So your fault if you lived with it.

So how do they verify that their contention ratios are still valid? Or if ther backbone capacities are still okay? Or, if servers etc are overloaded? Or a dozen other things equally important to running an ISP properly?
