How to deal with Ants?

Nip-it

Got it from Mica, could see it start working in 24 hours, and in a week no more ants

Quite expensive. R200 for 210g

This certainly doesn't work very well but at least you can use it without cats being able to get to it (brick or stone on top):

This stuff (nip-it) works like a charm, had a serious infestation and a day after putting these out, ants were gone! it's expensive but worth it!

Nip-It safe with kids around?

I have an infestation of note! Tried ant-traps, they dont work.

I tried the baking soda + icing sugar + water solution. Seems to have caused more little ones to come out.

Kids - 18 months and 4yo

Safe because the granules are small. Just sprinkle a few around the location where the ants appear to be coming from. The ants will carry them away into their nest. Add a bit more when you see the granules are gone and then wait. The ants simply disappear .

I have the same problem.
Will definitely try Nip-it.
I have been using the blue death ant powder. Works very well but the ants just find another way in.
Its also not safe for kids.
I bought the Effekto ant spray. Still to use it. Will go the Nip-it route instead

I use the Maxforce stuff - seems to be a similar idea to Nip-it.

Sprinkle near where they are coming out the wall - they take it away and all die.

Generally lasts anywhere from a few weeks to a few months before we see any sight of ants again.

There are two different types of ants:
Sugar loving such as black ants - Use that syrup ant trap.
or
Protein loving such as red ants - Use Maxforce.

HAve always used blue death powder .... but its not lekker from a kid / pet friendly point of view.

I was very skeptical about Nipit but it really works. Finally, my kitchen is ant-free. I swear they used to drop from the sky. I just put a few granules at a time behind the coffee machine where the cats can't get to. I also put it into crevices next to outside walls behind a brick. You don't really need so much either. Haven't seen an ant near my house for two weeks so far. Normally they flood in from miles around.

Agree. I have 2 types of nip it , one for the black and red ants, and the other for termites. I have no more ants inside at all. I have gradually pushed them away from the outside of the house, one nest at a time. Now have a clear area around the house about 6 m wide. they stay away for months before encroaching again. A few granules at the first sign of a new nest and gone again.

:D

I'm convinced they've developed Stargate technology in my neck of the woods ...

Currently keeping them at bay with pet friendly Effekto Ant, not sure if I've drowned them all or it's working as designed.

A little off topic, anyone have an idea how to get rid of Crickets? I got hundreds that come out during the night
