How to defeat ISIS

A further large source of funding is transfers from all over the world in support of their operations from what I've gleamed from European media who are investigating more closely since Paris. IS finds a wide support base internationally.

Kick Turkey out of NATO and bomb the oilfields controlled by ISIS. Simple. Now someone needs to grow a pair and do it.

Russians are doing it.
If Russia attacks Turkey, NATO has to protect Turkey, dragging the US into that war and in effect a war vs Russia. Turkey needs to be kicked out of NATO, it is a cold war relic anyway.

Russia has just created a new cold war, FYI.

So Turkey needs to be in NATO.

And Turkey is being radicalized, ie Islamic extremists are gaining groung there. NATO do not need that. Kickem out, let Russia sort them out too without dragging NATO in.

Why would Russia attack Turkey to kick ISIS off the Syrian oilfields?

Turkey appears to benefit from ISIS oil. So if Russia cleans up ISIS it is bad for Turkey.
So one way for Turkey to take the Russian heat off ISIS is to provoke Russia into an attacking them. This will drag NATO into the fight and keep Russia from focussing 100% on ISIS.

You can't defeat isis etc with conventional warfare, will never happen. You cannot fight an ideology with weapons. Harsh reality is isis etc is just gonna get stronger & bigger in the long term, islam is your future whether you like it or not.

Yes, but how is Turkey going to provoke Russia into attacking them without it being obvious to everyone what they did?

I don' t know, I don't care. It is not impossible.

Turkey wont be kicked out of NATO and nothing about what you said is simple. Bombing is pointless without an effective ground force that can take control of those oilfields.

Who said it was easy... And bombing oil fields is effective in shutting down production and cutting their profits.

I don' t know, I don't care. It is not impossible.
It remains highly improbable. The Americans have retreated from Syrian airspace almost entirely, and the Russians are no longer telling anyone about their flight paths, so far as I know. And I would be highly surprised if the Russians don't make absolutely certain that they stay within Syrian airspace at all times.

So long as Russia continues to bomb oil transport vehicles inside Syria, there's not much Turkey can do besides watch. Unless they do something totally bat**** insane, but at that point NATO will probably tell Turkey that it's on its own, and I doubt Erdogan's precarious political position would allow him to pull such a stunt anyways.

But you can at least stop them from selling off Syrian oil to fund their nefarious activities.

You did, you said it was simple.

Nope not really, they can hide a hose pipe under the sand and transport this stuff in civilian cars. You wont properly cut off oil supply with just airstrikes, to do that you need to control the ground. Besides oil isnt their only revenue, they make taxes off a few million people and make upwards of $200 million a year on wheat.
