I installed Application Software - VMC 9.3.6, but everytime I connect my USB device the device wants to install VMC lite again. I had previously used VMC lite and had to uninstall it from my PC in order to download the bigger version. How do I stop the device from installing VMC lite on my PC?

Easiest and quickest solution is to tell Windoze's Disk Manager to disable the drive letter that it keeps assigning to your E220.

Sorry for the necro here, but I'm having a problem with a PC here. The guy has an E220 modem, and he uses the VMCLite embedded software to connect. However, when he is at the office, and using our ADSL, the WMCLite connection keeps popping up wanting to connect. So it's not so much a case of not wanting to install it as it is of stopping it trying to connect to that connection when he is already connected to an ADSL connection. How can I stop this?

Ha, ha, they really wan tus to use the Vodacom software and network. It's a pain where the sun don't shine.

Have you tried the blocker?

Switch Port

This tool will disable the on-board VMC Lite auto installer. This is useful if you don’t want to use the embedded software on your machine.

I haven't tried that, but I don't want to stop the installer. The software is already installed, and I don't mind using it. I just want to stop the connect popups. You think the blocker might help? What happens when I want to use it to connect?

You just unblock it. I haven't used it for a while, but I think it's just a case of clicking a button and then reconnecting the modem to the USB. VMC will then do what it does.

Without the port blocker - if you're trying to run other modem software like the one from Huawei, you need to run it immediately after connecting the modem.

That way VMC cannot grab the port in time and you can then shut the VMC popup and forget about it until you reconnect.
