i've decided to sell one of my 8gb iphones and to wait for the new iphones to come out... but the problem is that i've got this damn wallpaper on it that doesnt go away, not even when i try to replace it with another one. is there any way that i can completely erase an iphone so that none of my crap is installed on it? in other words, make it like it was when i took it out of the box for the first time?

Yes, do a restore using itunes.

Edit:
If you have downloaded 1.1.4 firmware already to your PC, hold down the "shift" key(or "alt" I forgot I'm using my mac which is "option") and click restore then you'll be able to choose a firmware on your PC. it will be locked but just use iPlus or iLiberty(recommended rather than Ziphone because of fake blank) to unlock.

ya, iliberty+ (windows version) is awesome. im busy restoring now but didnt make a backup, only saved my contacts in outlook so i'll sync back later. wish me luck!

I imported mine for under R5000, so I wont pay more than that for an 8GB, yes it works on all networks.

Edit:
you have to set your voicemail number manually though...

*#5005*86# Displays the Voice Mail dial-in number.
**5005*86*VOICEMAIL# Sets the Voice Mail number to VOICEMAIL (international format).
##5005*86# Erases the Voice Mail number from phone.

ya, imported both mine for just under R5200 a piece in september... selling one cuz im keen on 16gb of music... and the rumoured 3G chipset that might be included in the new phones. would be niceeeee.
sufferwell - restore worked! damn wallpaper is gone.

also, for anyone who cares, iLiberty+ is a million times quicker than the latest ziphone. ziphone took about 8mins to unlock and downgrade, iLiberty+ took like 1 min.
i was like WTF! already finished??!?!

Someone I know has been offered an 8gb one for £269 (~ 4300) unlocked. Sounds like a good deal then.

ya, thats a really good one in local terms, but if the person is abroad already, he/she should shop around a bit because im convinced we're being milked like silly cows for the iphone in SA

one was meant for my gf who turned to an ex while the phone was being shipped to me =)
