How to get a fine reduced?

I found that every time I write a letter, they reply that they due to their workload they don't have time for postal correspondence and I must state my case before a magistrate on the given court date. Useless.
I'd keep that letter (response), and then make it very difficult for them to find me to deliver the summons

Wait for the summons, and then waste 2 days or so by going to the court-house to locate and then speak to the prosecutor before the court case.

+1. They normally send guys working for a private company around with a clipboard with fines in it. Just say you're not the one he is looking for and that you cannot sign on behalf of someone else. Or if you live in a security complex, advise the security to not let them in.
You put on your oldest, siffest clothes then you take the fine to the magistrate and plead joblessness/broken left nut/student etc.
Do not attempt it if you drive a bmw however. Magistrate will think you're a c*nt and double the fine then (cept if he's a bmw driver too in which case you'll be fine)

How much is the fine , is it really worth it to waste a day or two looking for the prosecutor to try get it reduced?
I found that the following works for me. Always. (to get the fine reduced).
1) Write a letter, stating that you are sorry and you realise you broke the law.
2) State in the letter that you only exceeded the speed limit at the point where the camera trapped you, not before, not after.
3) State in the letter that you posed no danger to any human lives because there were no other vechicles or pedestrians in the immediate vicinity of where you were trapped.
4) State in the letter that the fine is a considerable amount and that you kindly request that it be reduced.
5) State you are sorry and it won't happen again.
6) Take the letter to the prosecutor's office or traffic office and hand it in directly at the counter or even better, to the prosecutor. There will probably be some other people too in the same boat like you, waiting for their letters to be looked at. If you are lucky, some officer will look at it and reduce it right there. Afterwards, pay it immediately at the counter. Done and dusted!

The law now states that if you are caught at +30kph in a suburban zone, you should actually get arrested... so he's actually lucky.
