So MTN and Vodacom are both getting Google phones. They seems to have missed the point though: people who really need these phones live in the cloud.
Very little of my communication is phone calls, most of it is email, IM, Facebook etc, so the last thing I need is a contract with more talk time. I need data.
MTNs package of R530 pm is a good deal if you use the R350 talk time. I don't, which makes this a very expensive phone. Same with Vodacom at R599 pm.
Leaf don't seem to be stocking it yet, and, as usual, retail prices seem high compared to almost any other country (Vodacom say retail for the Dream is over R8000 - significantly more than an iPhone!)
Does anyone know what the best way is to buy a Google phone? I've looked at Ebay and they're available for around R4000. Has anyone bought something this expensive on Ebay? What are the things to look out for? Is it safe?
