How to get motes?

This new way of doing things in the game has killed my character professions.

To earn gold in the game I have the follow characters at max level

DK - Herbalim/Mining (my main gathering toon)
Druid -Engineering/Jewlcrafting
Priest - Alchemy/Inscription
Shaman - Tailoring/enchanting
Monk - Leatherworking /skinning

Now what I do is normally farm with my dk and then send the mats through to the druid or priest. Problem now is that engineering is very mote heavy. I normally get most of my motes from farming. The motes are completely useless to my gathering toon, so he sits with so many motes that I cant use. My engineer sits with none. The only way I know how to get motes is to farm or run dungeons. Running dungeons for motes is very very time consuming.

Should I drop JC on my druid and pick up mining again just so I can get more motes? How do you work it?

Another way to gain motes is to to use the farm in Valley of the Four Winds. Songbell Seeds will grow into plants that can be harvested for motes. You have to be Revered with Tillers though. Each plant gives one mote, so you can get 16 motes a day at Exalted.

Find this to be the fastest as well. 5-10 min worth of farming per alt per day. Getting them to exalted and opening up all the farm tiles is the hard or rather boring bit...

But to be honest with you, why bother with professions for gear this late in the patch? Unless you have specific goals or items you are working towards, I really do not see the point of farming motes.
Ilvl 496 gear is for free anyway...

Honestly, I don't specifically farm motes, I just acquire them from the random activities I do each day, get some from Timeless Isle, and some from LFR/Flex boss reward chests. I'm also trying to make Blingtron, the Living Steel is the pain for me.

You probally farm and get a ton of motes just from normal farming. Unless your toon does not have farming.

I cant go to timeless isle because of the faction imbalance on my server. I hardly ever get motes from LFR

Ive got almost enough living steel to create a sky golem.

I found that doing the weekly 5 rares on timeless isle can sometimes yield 5+ motes.

On flex raid ( guild runs them to hear up alts or when we can't fill our main raid team) I get quite a few as well

That and the farm and I got the blinktron in no time at all. I wasn't actually farming for it. I just realised one day that I had all the mats

And this character isn't even my main

If you farm you get them easily. Problem is my engineer`s other profession is JC :/ Its not a farming toon. My farming toon is sitting with 10 motes.... and it can do nothing with them.

Planting seeds on the farm get you 16 motes a day if you are exalted. Another trick take your char that needs the motes to Kun-Lai Summit there is a cave with these sprites that is inside the cave and also hiding underneath snow piles.

Not sure if your Alchemy is full or not. But in case it is full get him to make a bunch of potions of luck and send that to the char farming for motes this really helps.

[edit] - Last week I was lucky and on (1x Potion of Luck = 15min) inside that cave I made 15 motes on a potion. Some other times when less lucky still make between 6 - 10 motes in the 15min the potion of luck is active. Another bonus you also get a lot of greens and those crates that drops from using the potion. You can either NPC or disenchant all the greens.

Another thing that was mentioned somewhere above is making living steels. Make sure you choose transmute master as your speciality on Alchemy you sometimes get extra living steels or tyrilium bars while transmuting. That really helped me very quick to get enough for my golum, my Engineering friend actually fell behind in making his power sources. : )
