I finally figured it out . What you need is a watertight box and a long pole plus extended power cable and ethernet.
1. Mount your Iburst modem in the box with the aerial poking through a suitably sealed hole in the top.
2. Run all the cables through the bottom of the box and seal well.
3. Mount the box on top of a long aluminum pole (the longer the better)
4. Connect up and enjoy fast downloads. :D

This is the solution to the evasive external aerial which everyone is waitng for.

Post your results here. :D

I think you need to take pics and show us your design lol, because the way i read that my house would end up looking like the arse end of Saddam Hussains sons face lol :D

Let me get this right your saing if you have a maasive areal your download would improve? How so? woudl your speed in general improve? and if so how so lol?
If you get full sigal as it is? how can it be any different?

Dammit!

Guru, thanks for nothing mate! Did exactly what you said, on my lapa's 25m lightning pole (thought the higher the better), and guess what, lightning f@cked up my UTD and PC ... LOL :D

i did that , well , i just stuck the UTD in a plastic bag ... and on a 3m pole on the roof... works much better , am getting 120KB/s...

I did this long ago. I didn't quite stick it on a pole, but I did put it on an outside wall, upstairs. I used a waterproof container and connected the UTD to my server using a 30m ethernet cable.

It worked a like charm, and solved all of my signal issues.

Just need WBS to sort out their current speed issues and then I can go back to :)

I need pictures..

Please.....
Just ask Noone, I'm sure he's got plenty pictures :D.

Seriously though, water-tight containers aside, the fact that it's sealed and in the sun, does that not cause an overheating problem for the UTD...?

i would be more worried about lightning strikes!

"iBurst with a Download Accelerator/manager will maximise your bandwith by connecting to multiple sites similtaneously downloading different fragments of the same file, thus overcoming speed restrictions using only one [slow] server. Should your download performance improve using a download manager, this will indicate that there isn't a problem with your connection. Use bittorrent to down load a common file and see how fast it saturates your connection. "

[tks to Josh for the tip]

yeah its called multithreading and everyone and thier gran knows about it

I would disagree, most users out there maybe know how to switch on their PC, but ask your average consumer how to multithread and you will be met with a blank stare. Not everyone who reads this forum is a Bof. If we help more people to maxamise their connection experience the more people will adopt this type of technology - and drive prices down.
