I was going to suggest opening a command prompt and typeing the following:

c:\> pkzip -maxcompress internet.*

Then just browse the compressed file.

Speed Secrets
Microsoft Doesn’t Want You To Know!

Qustion: How to Increase Internet Speed?
Answer: Increasing Band-Width By 20%:

Microsoft reserves 20% of your available bandwidth for their own purposes like Windows Updates
and interrogating your PC etc To get it back:

Click Start then Run and type "gpedit.msc" without quotes. This opens the group policy editor.
Then go to: Local Computer Policy then Computer Configuration then Administrative Templates
then Network then QOS Packet Scheduler and then to Limit Reservable Bandwidth. Double click
on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the
'Explain' tab i.e."By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the
bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default." So the
trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to
reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.It works on Win 2000 as well. Visit

What if you have XP home? Time to update?

Does this really work?
Can someone confirm this by doing a speedtest.net speed test before and after modifying...
I did the change but don't notice anything diff....

I'm guessing the reserved bandwidth only gets utilized when you are downloading a MS update. Also when your PC queries what updates are available.

I could be wrong, educated guess.

It is a myth and not true. You can test it by setting the value to 100%; if the default setting of 20% decreases the speed by 20% then setting it to 100% should stop all traffic....

Just push the Turbo Button. (its the one next to the power button marked "R E S E T")

I will reupload the video but where do i upload it to a local site? (what site can i use)
