How to jailbreak iphone 3g with broken power button

Please could sumbody anybody help me out. im running 4.1 on my iphone 3g and downloaded all the files i need to jailbreak! but my power button/lock button is broken so i cant switch it off as thats one of the steps you need to do.

Feel like sharing the method you used to JB the 3G?

It's not too hard to take apart a 3G and try to fix the power button. You need a tiny philips screwdriver to take out the two little screws at the bottom. Then you pop the iPhone open with a suction cup. There are 3 cables which are plugged into the motherboard that you have to disconnect to open it fully. I did it, a little hair-raising but do-able. The one cable is quite fiddly but really it's doable.

In the era of the original iPhones, there were some apps (can't think of a name right now) that could put your phone into dfu/recovery mode. I'm sure this might work for you if you don't fancy the idea of opening your iPhone up
