How to make a bootable ghost image?

Hi guys,

Can anyone tell me how to make a bootable ghost image?

I have ghost 14, and made a backup to my external hdd, then burnt the two files it created to dvd, tried to load it on a second PC (identical) but it wont boot :/

any help would be appreciated

The simplest solution would be to download Hiren's BootCD 10.6:

The BootCD include various utilities and diagnostics programs - including Norton Ghost.

Insert the BootCD and choose the "Mini Windows XP" option. This will load a version of Windows XP in RAM. Then start Norton Ghost and restore the image.

Agreed. That would be the easiest method.

And Hiren is like 260mb.

Doesn't Ghost have the option of creating a recovery boot disc (Windows PE 2.x based)?

Could always make a WinPE disc (need the WAIK tools and a bit of time to learn how to use them).

Another cool trick is booting off of a USB drive (google: Windows 7 usb install) with the ghost exectuables, hitting Shift+F10 to get to command console and running it from there. -- addtionally, this is a useful tool to reset local passwords (chntpw windows port), for those who do not encrypt their HDD's
