How do you know if you're capped?

From my experience and if you have a TelkomInternet account:

First thing you will notice is that you can not authenticate, you will not be able to connect to the internet, when you enter your username and password when trying to establish an internet connection, you will just get an error.

To make sure, you can then try the following from a PC that has an internet connection (from work or a friend):
Try logging on to the Telkomsa.net usage site (http://adsl.telkomsa.net/)
then
Try logging on to the Saix usage site (http://userstats.adsl.saix.net/)

If you can log in at the telkomsa.net site, but you can not log in at the saix site, you are capped.

I think it's actually guest1@telkomadsl.net and password guest

With or without the .net?

Either way I'll try it one more time tonight. It sucks to only be able to test these things out when you finally get home from work, and then get pissed off when nothing works and you're stuck without internet for another night. :(

Man now I'm confused. I can log on to both the sites.

I was wondering if you guys can help me. I got my account on Saturday and i have not dowloaded a dam thing. They now say i have used 2.2 gigs already. How can this be. I have not watched videos, live audio, or even dowloaded any programs or files.
I have telkom 312 speed, with cybersmart 3gig for R125.

Just to let anybody know, with the Mweb business accounts once you hit your cap you are cut off almost immediately. You can still authenticate but cannot load any pages (not even local), however if you browse to www.mweb.co.za you will get a web page telling you that you're capped.

When I asked the Mweb techie about the local data he said that there is no local allowance for the accounts. Seems odd since places like Openweb can offer you 30GB local and the 3GB cap for less than Mweb charges for a 3GB account with zero extras...

This is because MWeb is on a SAIX backbone whilst OpenWeb is on an IS backbone

Oh yes I forgot about the whole backbone thing.

Do you guys think its worth moving from our MWEB 3GB Business account to a Telkom 3GB one? Because we could use the extra GBs until we get capped, then we could just top-up a webafrica account as we need it. Thing is that the Internet system needs to be as simple as possible (for the other admins), and reliable.

Hmm... Things to ponder.

Ok, nothing works. Retried the guest account, didn't work. Tried my friends completely unused account, didn't work.

Phoning telkom to tell them to sort their **** out. Probably the authentication that's screwy. How do I express this to the helpful call centre person as to facilitate a speedy resolution to my current problem......... without the screaming, cursing and all round nastiness.

I have the same problem today. My download speed was fine until 7H30 today and then it dropped. The last test I could process indicated that my speed 4.4. I think Telkom is down, becase you can't access their website either.
