How to mine Bitcoin

You don't, it's not worth it.
Or if you really have to rent a mining server.

To give some context:
I borrowed an unused Antminer from a mate who is seriously into Bitcoin mining and fired it up - overclocked etc etc.

I had it run 24/7 for a whole month and ended up mining backwards. The thing got through about 25% of the job before it expired and had to start again with another, where it expired again. There are just too many other serious miners, like this mate of mine who actually has a whole cabinet in a local datacenter full of ASIC mining kit that yields 2-3 Bitcoins a month. He is considered a small-scale miner. I have seen YouTube vids of people with datacenters full of miners and have employed engineers to develop even more efficient mining tech for the,.

I reckon it is worth more buying Bitcoins and play around with investment than try and mine it yourself at this point in time.

In order to mine Bitcoin, you need a schitload of money.

The biggest problem with Bitcoin is that there is finite number of it, unlike the other cryptocurrencies like litecoin for example. The more coins that are discovered the less undiscovered ones there are and therefore the more difficult it gets to find.

I have a pretty decent machine running 24/7/365 might as well give it a purpose since it's running already;
So question:

What must i do to let the machine mine? ( It's windows 10 )

Your pretty decent machine isn't going to make you any money.

I really wish I'd done a bit of bitcoin mining when bitcoins first appeared online.

Surely it would make more than it makes now just sitting there powering my house

It will probably cost more sitting there running 100% gpu than it'll make.
This. For most people the term mining can be divorced from bitcoin. It's just not relevant anymore.

For those that don't understand here's a simple bitcoin calculator that can roughly give out an example of how crappy your gpu is in the market.

Just put in your gpu advertised hash rate and be amazed at all its potential!

0.01$ pm for me.

Great and very in-depth video on bitcoin mining:

Also sounds like the birthing of a global AI intelligence...

You don't "find" a bitcoin. You hash a block of transactions using SHA-256 algorithm
