How to mute the Nokia 7 plus

The Nokia book says you simply press the volume rocker down, till showing vibrate. There is also a do not disturb on top in the shortcut bar. But after doing this, and someone phones me it simply rings hard.
Can anyone please guide me.

Press the volume rocker, then tap the vibrate icon that appears , you will be able change it to a bell (normal mode).
