How to protect your private data online

Nice write-up and useful especially for the non-tech users. I have personally enabled 2 step verification for my google-ID using the android code generation app. But the lesson leant from this is just don't upload nudes & any other very sensitive information online there is no foolproof method to secure one's data

Just don't put your private data online. It's private, after all, isn't it?

Since "electronic literacy" is the only way to protect yourself against "hacking"...

...and no-one can ever be entirely 'electronically literate' (I'm a C++ programmer with over 14 years experience and all these web services ultimately remain black boxes), the only foolproof way to keep private data private is not to upload it, or even better, not to create it in the first place.

Harry Potter at least knew what kind of heart-string was inside his magic wand, but you can't say the same for even the best Wizards of Our Age...
