I am pretty sure I am not the only PVP fanatic paying wow from South Africa. I really enjoy it, BUT some days it is just really frustrating and I just want to smash my keyboard.
Playing Hunter I have little trouble killing people and doing very well in Battlegrounds. I suck in Arena though :(
As a Melee char (Arms Warrior) I have just really lost it. People running circles around me without being able to hit them and when I get to them they are not there... Chasing people down and even when ONTOP of them you get the message out of range... Or when you run past them you are facing the wrong direction....
How do you guys chase people down, or really cope with the lag?

Is there any situations where our lag can be in our favor?

Intercept+Hamstring Macro ;)

yes, when you are playing against another South African Player....

it looks like two blind guys fumbeling around, facing all weird sorts of directions in a fight

ADSL with unshapped + Gamemax solved it for me :)

220-260ms and pvp is not that bad anymore.

After playing pvp for years on 500-1000ms

A tunneling service really makes it worth while

basically, if you see a guy with an afrikaans nick, stab him.

Ranged DPS or healer.

Ranged dps maybe ... healer no. A big part of healing is juking i.e. fake casting.

I suck at arena since returning to SA with inconsistent (worse than poor) latency and disconnects. I am an ex-2k+ arena player that barely managed 1800 last season and have given up this season due to frustration.

I am already playing with 200-300ms latencies and it is frustrating me like hell.

The charge/intercept - hamstring macro also only work to some extend :P but sometimes after a nice charge the guy is still some yards in front of me and I cant hamstring him immediately. He have the stun effect and all, but he appears to be 5 yards further away...

DK's also seem to be able to pull me from way to far distances :(

Tunneling services really are worth it, dropped my latency from 780-900 down to 250-400.

With my axxess account and the tunneling service i get 250-350!

Tunneling will not reduce my latency from where it is now ;) so no it is not worth it.

I just started playing around with healing a few weeks ago and as a druid healer lat really isn't that much of a problem.

If your connection is really bad you will literally warp around on the screens of the EU players. When I was in the UK I was attacked by a South African guy and I never knew wtf he was at any given time, it was like a rogue with blink on a 0.1 sec cooldown. He kicked my ass :(:(

Play wizard cleave, if anything survives for more than a few seconds you're doing it wrong.

I got Gladiator in 3v3 (top 100 or so teams in battlegroup) in Season 2 with an average of 1000ish ms and random DCs. I beat some of the best teams, including the Rank 1 , 3 and 5 team back then in the Blackout battlegroup and they all play with flawless connections. You can match people with 20 ms with a bit of creativity and practice so don't give up. Remember WoW isn't a FPS and there is alot of finesse to it. My line has improved since then and I play with about 600 ms now (with gamemax) and still don't have many problems pvp wise. I would advise playing a caster class as it's alot easier than a melee class with lag because of the following. Just make all your spells macros as in say you want Flash Heal just make a macro :

#showtooltip
/stopcasting
/cast flash heal (rank 5)

Then download Quartz cast addon. It will show you a red line on your cast bar that is the point where you can start casting your next spell while the first one is still casting. This is key. Say you are spamming flash heals. 0.75secs into casting your first flash heal you should press the flash heal button again and thanks to /stopcasting your second flash heal will start casting again but because of lag both flash heals will cast. You should do this with all spells and you'll see a big difference.

You really don't need any more addons than Quartz. They'll just slow you down. Fakecasting can be done, I do it all the time. You will never be able to kite perfectally out of LOS however but it's no train smash. Pre wrath shadow word deathing sheeps was easy but now I do find it impossible due to insane mage spell haste + lag. Use your lag to your advantage, keep moving, allll the time, keep jumping, I rarely stop moving. You can stop casting alot of spells REALLY early due to lag and your enemies will take a fraction of a second longer to see it cast and by that time you're already moving. It's quite fun actually.

Also make sure you play a 'proper' arena setup and don't play with idiots ;)

Poor latency is less of an issue than inconsistent latency as Quartz will not help you plan/cancel casts if you "freeze" for a second or two.

All respect due, but I don't see why anyone would want to pvp in WoW. Compared to raiding and pve, 'pro' pvp is all about standing in a 10metre square box and dryhumping pillars. The same 3 or 4 terrible, boring, tiny maps over and over and over and over and over...
Battlegrounds I can understand, they're pretty fun and strategic and you can be pretty creative. But arenas? Seriously? Well, i guess if you're serious about it, best tip I can offer is to roll the right class. This game has never been and never will be properly pvp balanced, So just make sure you're FOTM.

I've seen Awoken in quite a few battlegrounds since you first started posting :P

[Edit] Now that i think about it , i'm sure you're always part of those WSG premades :> hmm

Anywho , 200ms is really not that bad , sure you do get initial lag as melee (cheapshot/charge) but as soon as you apply any sort of snare its pretty much countered.

Also , inb4 zomg crippling poison auto applied QQ from the OP.
