Hello All,

Tried searching the forums on a guide or information how to read ADSL line stats as reported by my Billion 5102S modem. Couldn't find any info. Been having some intermittent problems with my 4Mb Telkom ADSL line. Could someone advise me if my stats are within decent operating parameters?

I only get about 1.8Mb/s download; 0.23Mb/s upload; ping 35ms (www.speedtest.net using Johannesburg as the server: I am on the Kelvin exchange)

Downstream Noise Margin

relative capacity occupation: 67%
noise margin downstream: 12.5 db
output power upstream: 5.0 dbm
attenuation downstream: 40.0 db

Upstream Noise Margin

relative capacity occupation: 58%
noise margin upstream: 14.0 db
output power downstream: 15.0 dbm
attenuation upstream: 23.0 db

Also, where can I see in the Billion 5102S admin menus what my line is syncing at?

Many thanks in advance.

Your line attenuation and SNR margin seems to be in order. SNR above 10dB and attenuation below 50dB should be OK for running 4Mbps ADSL. Just check that your router is synchronizing at 4096 kbps (down) and 512 kbps (up).
