How to remove a virus in explorer.exe?

As far as I understand it, Safe Mode only loads the most critical drivers for your computer. And explorer.exe still runs in Safe Mode, otherwise you wouldn't have a desktop :)

As stoke said, if something has infected something such as a mouse driver in Windows then it'll still load in Safe Mode...

lol yip

did you go to run, msconfig, startup and disable any foerign items that appear there, and restart? im sure u did but just checking..

from what i read about the problem in google, there is no real solution that i found..

http://www.google.co.za/search?hl=en&q=55+critical+system+errors&meta=

most people just reinstalled windows, and INSTALLED ANTI VIRUS (very important) and make sure u update definitions everyday

sorry to hear that dude..viruses suck

update: from a site i found

I ran a System Restore to a date prior to when this problem began occurring. That knocked it out in one fell swoop. I'm glad it's gone; that was annoying!

For those who haven't done a system restore before, go to Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore and select a date before this problem starting happening. This may remove programs that you've installed since that date, but if you need to you can undo the systems restore.

try that dude!

good luck ;)

One of the most useful tools out there is autoruns. It was originally from sysinternals which now MS took over, but its used to identify any and every program that is hooked into your system whether it be startup, winlogon, explorer, iexplorer etc etc.

Its very easy to hook into safe mode - it only loads critical dll's/drivers etc and malware has now become clever enough to do that. Its no longer 'safe mode'
