How to remove stuck ball bearings from a recessed socket?

I'm in the process of refurbishing a malt mill, which is based on a three roller assembly imported from China. It's this model:

Being Chinese, it's not brilliant quality The rollers and bearings are made of mild steel, not stainless, and due to circumstances beyond my control it was packed away in storage for two and a half years without having been stripped, cleaned and wrapped in plastic first. Since malt flour attracts and retains moisture, and naturally contains phosphates that react with water to form phosphoric acid, it's not surprising that corrosion has taken its toll.

The bearings especially are a problem. They never were good to begin with (but I never got around to replacing them with proper ones) and they have seized up completely.

My problem is that due to rust and the swelling, caking and sticking qualities of the malt flour lodged in the gaps, I can't get to move two of the bearings out of the recess that they are set in.

One is set into the aluminium chassis plate (which is about 16mm thick):

The top bearing has been removed, the bottom one is still in there. The bore of the bearing is exactly the same size as the hole in the recess, so I can't push it out.

The one in the steel roller is even more problematic: I can't get behind the bearing at all:

So I need any and all advice and suggestions on how to remove these bearings. I don't care if the bearings get destroyed in the process since they're junk and will be replaced with proper ones anyway, but I cannot risk damage to the chassis plate and the roller.

Ideas, anyone?

Blind bearing puller but might be just cheaper to take it to someone with one
 
Heat expands metal, cold shrinks it. Use freeze spray on the bearing itself. It may just shrink enough to break the rust and be able to pull it out.

its aluminum. It it changes faster than the bearing. they will be press fit. best solution will be proper cleaning. and pull them out. if new bearing is loose fit after aluminum has been damaged you wil need to center punch the bearing seat on it and press new bearing in.
 
Pry the metal cover off then use a screwdriver to pry it out?

There is a 'bearing puller' tool that I saw a guy use once to remove stuck bearings.
 
Any decent car or motorbike shop will get that out very quickly and easily and cheaply
 
You probably would need a bearing puller like this.
An engineering place should be able to assist you.
Aha! I didn't know those existed. I have learned something.

I'm going to have to order new bearings from a local supplier; I imagine they should have one.

This one I can help you. Find a rod that fits nicely in the hole. add bread and use a hammer (grease works as well)

For this one, drill 2 holes on the other side as the edge of the outer wall of the bearing and use a punch?
 
OK, so having read all the suggestions here (which are awesome; you guys rock!) I had an idea. The bearing has a 10mm bore, and I happen to have 10mm nylon wall plugs on hand. I stuck one into the bearing, and then put a coach screw in and turned it it until the plug expanded enough to be lodged firmly within the bearing. A pair of pliers and a bit of careful wriggling did the trick! I was able to pull the bearing out by the wall plug.

So now I've invented the poor man's bearing puller... :ROFL:
