Hi guys,
My ADSL line speed is fine. WiFi router connection is fine. My smartphones and other devices run fine, connected to WiFi. And my laptop used to run fine on WiFi until recently. Now, for no reason, whether I'm using Firefox or Chrome, even though my WiFi shows a stron signal and shows 'Connected To Internet' . . . and even though internet is running smooth on other devices, but my browser starts randomly timing out. Then I need to disconnect and reconnect, and the connection returns.

Like I said, everything was working fine. I have not made any changes to my laptop. There's no new software or bloatware on my device. Any ideas on how I can resolve this?

Much thanks,

Windows?

Windows 10
I had clients with a similar issue.

Open command prompt in elevated (admin)
run:
Code:
netsh winsock reset

Restart and see if that fixes it

Resetting Winsock will undo configurations made to the Winsock Catalog. Changes can be made by networking programs like web browsers, email clients, and VPN programs. A reset reverts the wsock32 DLL file back to its default setting, giving such software a fresh start at connecting to TCP/IP traffic.

Ahhh I thought we were onto something! . . . but alas, the issues remains

If your wifi router also has 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz speeds disable the 5Ghz and see if it then works. Was the only thing that worked for me after days of struggling with different solutions. You can also try uninstalling the wireless network driver on your laptop and rebooting so it re-installs. That may also help for a while...

Edit: My bad, I meant to say 5Ghz wifi speed not 5g cell signal. :X3:

Was going to suggest that next.

Try and get DriverBooster and have it check if there are updated drivers as well.

Have you connected directly via the cable to the router to test if it's your wifi or something on the laptop?

Yep. Like I said, all other devices connected to router are working fine. Definitely a laptop thing. And about a month ago, this laptop was working perfectly with the router.
Will try suggestions from @IamNoone and @Mike Angelo and will keep you all posted

Is there a way I can disable 5Ghz from my laptop only, so it doesn't affect other users and devices?

Just double checking, if I uninstall . . . I won't have any issues re-installing right? Coz I don't have the driver anywhere I know?

Do that.

Don't forget to restart Windows afterwards.

You will have to play around, there might be under your Windows settings/Network & Internet adapter settings or could be under device manager if you go to the device properties and choose advanced you might be able to turn it off there.
