Key recommendations that Hodge makes include regulating the costs of Internet traffic on undersea cables, unbundling the local loop (the line that connects the network backbone to the home or office) and fast tracking the introduction of number portability (the ability to change networks, while keeping one’s number). The latter are all initiatives that are already being reviewed by regulator Icasa, or their review has been called for. But, they are all more medium term goals.
