How to stop your mobile data getting drained

Unfortunately you are out of luck if you have Windows 10 PC or Windows 10 phone.
Just turn cellular data off and never turn it on.

No settings can help you if you are wrongly billed. I use the 24h MTN data option often and every time it tells me I have used 150Mb within minutes. My phone records that it has done about 15MB in that time, so there's a massive issue with billing that switching items off won't help

Providers need to lower their data prices to reasonable amounts, buying 500mb for R150 is a bit too much to start with.

Cellular data prices should come down! To pay R149 per gig (Vodacom and others) are totally unacceptable! It is a massive rip off.

Don't have so much of a problem locally but try travelling. Even knowing charges were high and keeping my phone off as far as possible and only using the hotel wi-fi site my bill from Tuesday to Sunday was over R6000!! (Brazil to USA to Mexico to USA to Ghana (I never got off the plane) to South Africa)its a scandal. Service providers should simply switch you into the local network using local tariffs for data and calls. Vodacom has it own network in the UK so why should we still pay international charges when roaming in the UK.

I have passed on the original article via email to friends of mine.

Hopefully it will help them to keep the OOB sharkie at bay. And hopefully they will also pass it on to their friends and so on...

Being informed in a war is what will make you win.

I can survive on 200MB mobile data p/m :p
